Eja

Eja was part of a family farm that has decided to dissolve the larger animals as the owners were getting older. Loving sheep, we have agreed to take care of her. We drove to the far east of the country in order to get her, along with her friend Pipuša, an elderly goat which the owners wanted to euthanise (but that is part of her story on her own profile page). Both of them were confined to small wooden cages, 1x1m, trying to jump out and calling out when we came.

After a long drive in a friend’s minivan, we were home. Compared to our rams at that time, Eja was big one. And a crazy one. On day one, she ran down the garden and not minding a gate in her way, she just took it along with her, continuing her run with a wooden pallete around here neck. Smart, friendly, and with great sense of humour, we quickly came to love her.

Soon, however, Eja became very sick, and had to be isolated. The strong lady she is, she has managed to make it through. Her personality changed though, as well as the relationship with the other animals. Now rather a loner than the cannonball she was before, but very gentle and always seeking attention.
